French-Algerian chef Akrame Benallal spoke about how his mother introduced him to the world of cooking and was his source of inspiration to become a chef. “When you cook for someone, it’s more than cooking … it’s a gift,” he indicated, expressing the love and passion he developed for cooking.
While he acknowledges that his job is extremely demanding and takes away from his family time, Benallal said that his work allowed him “to find another love from your guests, and team.” In addition, he emphasized that being a chef requires more than culinary expertise, saying that one has to be a reliable leader and a good human being.
