An Easy Vegetable Masala Recipe You Can Easily Make At Home
Vegetable Masala is a famous Indian cooking, which originated from the subcontinent of India. Spices are used for the dishes which include this famous Indian recipe. This particular recipe was popular in the Mughal and British era.
When visiting the Maldives, which is located on the east coast of India, the couple could take an Indian cooking course at one of the many restaurants present on the island. A lot of tourists visit the Maldives and explore all the islands that are there. On the east coast of the island, one will find the famous Coconut Grove restaurant which is well known for its large range of Indian dishes. Vegetable masala is one such dish. The beautiful thing about this recipe is that it is made from real Indian spices, which is why it is so popular.
Indian cuisine has evolved through the years, owing to the influences of various countries like Britain, America and Europe. All these countries added their own touch to the Indian cuisine and created their own unique version of vegetable masala. For example, while the British brought their tomato preserves, America added their pickles. Thus, when Indian cuisine was first formed, it was mainly of British influence.
In this recipe, we have a variety of spices and herbs that will give you the authentic Indian taste. These are the spices that can be used in making masala for all types of Indian curries. The main ingredients in this recipe are onions, garlic, cumin, turmeric, coriander powder, cardamom and fennel. Let us start with the onions. You can add sliced onions or buy readymade ones, but you can also roast them yourself using a dry mortar and pestle.
After removing the skin, you can use your sharp knife to chop them finely. You should remember that a good amount of salt is required to give this masala a coarse flavor. Put the chopped onions in a single layer on a flat pan. Add the spices and salt at the bottom of the onions. Cover the mixture and let it rest for some time so that the spices get infused properly. The complete process of preparing this vegetable masala takes about one hour.
Garlic is another ingredient in the recipe. You have to chop the cloves finely so that they become tender. Now, you can add the other ingredients into the masala mix them well. Simultaneously cover the veggies and cook them in the same way that you did with the onions. When the veggies are almost done, add the whole good amount of salt in the mixture and mix it well.
Here comes the second part of this crazy yet incredible Indian vegetable masala - the milk. In this second step, you simply have to add in the entire milk in the masala. Then, cover all the ingredients with aluminum foil. Cook the curry in the oven at about 350F and keep the lid open for about twenty minutes. Add the nuts and garam masala while the process is still on fire.
For the last step, you just have to remove the lid after about ten minutes and cut the cooked veggies with cleaver. Mix these cut veggies with the crumbled salt and cook them in the same way as the onions were. This crazy but authentic Indian recipe makes a great appetizer or even a side dish. It can also be used to make an insane amount of different vegetable dishes including dips, soups, stews and many more.
This is also one of my favorite Indian vegetable recipes because this involves a delicious combination of garlic, pepper, and sweet corn. First, you will need to get some sweet corn. You can either pick your own sweet corn or go to any local grocery store and pick out your preferred sweet corn. Then, you need to find a super-sized hole in the ground, preferably around two feet long. Once you have found your spot, dig your hole and place your sweet corn in the center of your hole.
Now, you need to get some good ground spices. Some popular Indian spices include cumin, turmeric, cinnamon, and cardamom. However, you can use any kind of spices you like. Just make sure that the spices you use have the right properties to make your vegetable masala. These spices will go a long way in adding flavor to your homemade concoction.
Now, all you have to do is add all of your desired spices to your sweet corn and spread them all over your vegetable. Cover the whole thing in water so that the mixture gets moist and spicy. After that, simply let it sit for an entire day, uncovered, in the same position. The next day, remove the cover and fluff up your new vegetable masala recipe. You now have a delicious and healthy vegetable dish that you can easily make at home.
