Khalifa University Unveils Revolutionary Camel Milk Products at Global Food Week

Khalifa University’s Food Security and Technology Research Center reveals groundbreaking developments in functional camel milk products at Abu Dhabi’s Global Food Week 2025.

The university’s Department of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering spotlights solutions aimed at boosting UAE and Gulf region food security through technological innovation.

“We develop several food products which are aimed at boosting the economy of UAE in general,” explains Haileeyesus Gebrehiwot, postdoctoral researcher at the center to Morocco World News.

His team dazzles visitors with three specialized camel milk powders that “maximize the retention” of nutrients while incorporating probiotics for enhanced gut health benefits.

The research center’s comprehensive approach includes developing elastic camel milk cheese varieties, creating advanced packaging materials to extend shelf life of perishable produce, and implementing AI-powered detection systems for agricultural microorganisms.

“We use AI and automated technologies to detect those organisms so that we can boost agricultural outputs,” notes Gebrehiwot about their integrated food security strategy.
